About Us

We exist to inspire joy in our customers,
and nurture a positive place to work and grow for our employees.

Where it all began

It all started with a simple idea. Back in 2006, most Maui boutiques felt out of reach for the women who actually lived and worked here. So founders Jody and Joe decided to try something different: a boutique with great style at affordable prices. Naively, they thought only locals would be their customers—but word spread fast. Visitors found them too. That first little Paia store turned into 16 Mahina locations across Maui, Oahu, Kauai, and the Big Island.

Meet the Crew

As we head toward our 20th year in 2026, Mahina has grown into a long-established business in Hawaii—thanks to an incredible team of more than 130 talented, multi-faceted people. Our team has been the backbone of Mahina since the beginning.

Our company ethos? Be kind, open-minded, and approach problems with a “let’s have fun figuring this out” attitude.

Here’s a quick peek at our crew having some fun at a recent company pau hana. Cheers!

Rooted in Gratitude:

Our Community Commitment

At Mahina, we acknowledge the privilege of thriving in Hawaiʻi's paradise.
This gratitude shapes our giving philosophy: every contribution stays within our islands.

MAUI FIRES

Our stores have always contributed to their immediate communities. But when the Maui fires hit, that became a major cause. So far we've run three warehouse sales that donated 100% of proceeds - a bit over $92,000 to fire victims. We also partner with Aloha in Action, an organization that cuts through red tape and gets help directly to families, and quickly.

KIPUKA OLOWALU

We've also found a home away from home at Kīpuka Olowalu on Maui, Mahina's birthplace. Each year our team gets together from across the Hawaiian islands to help restore important cultural lands to their native roots. By keeping our giving local, we honor the ʻāina and the people who make Hawaiʻi not just where we work, but the place we love—and the place that inspires us every day.
